Our Story
Our Story
Dupont Kitchen & Bath Fixtures first opened its doors in 1938, when Joseph Prystay, a skilled mechanic from Ukraine, immigrated to Canada and began a new chapter with his wife-to-be, Katherine. Together, they laid the foundation for what would become one of Toronto’s most trusted family-owned businesses.
Over the decades, the Prystay family nurtured the company, balancing hard work with community values. Their dedication to quality plumbing supplies, expert service, and honest advice made Dupont a fixture in Toronto homes.
A Family Legacy
In 1990, Dupont moved to its current location on Eglinton Avenue West. At that time, Joseph’s sons, Marvin and Walter, carried the business forward. When Marvin passed away in 2001, Walter took on the responsibility of running Dupont, continuing the family’s vision with resilience and care.
Today, Walter is joined by two of his three children, Caitlin and Steven, who represent the third generation of family leadership. Together with a dedicated team, they keep alive the values their grandparents established nearly nine decades ago: service, integrity, and community.
Serving Generations of Homeowners
For over 80 years, the Dupont family and staff have offered more than just products. Customers rely on Dupont for:
Expert advice on bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
A trusted parts counter, supplying everything from faucets and shower hoses to fill valves and repair kits.
Showroom inspiration, with displays featuring the latest in design trends, vanities, freestanding tubs, and faucets.
Our reputation as “the best little warehouse in town” isn’t just a slogan—it reflects our ability to combine big-store variety with small-business service.
Adapting for the Future
While tradition is our foundation, innovation drives our future. Our showroom features QR codes that allow customers to instantly access product details and specifications. For those seeking tailored support, we offer consultations that credit back toward purchases, ensuring both convenience and value.
We also continue to expand our product range, from luxury fixtures and wellness products like saunas and steam showers to trade essentials and custom kitchen cabinets, keeping pace with how people live, work, and renovate today.
Why Our Story Matters
At Dupont, every customer becomes part of our story. We are not just selling products—we are helping families and professionals create spaces that improve daily life. Whether it’s a contractor sourcing valves and fittings, a designer planning a luxury ensuite, or a homeowner choosing their first freestanding tub, our family is here to help.
More than eight decades later, we remain committed to the same promise Joseph and Katherine made: to serve our community with honesty, expertise, and care.
