Shower drains are more important than one may believe, especially when wanting a zero threshold shower. A zero threshold shower is a shower without a raised lip or curb, where the door to shower is the same tile. This can give your bathroom a more luxurious look and feel. However, this can only be done planned from the start of construction. Please consult your contractor to see what can be done on your project. There are three main types of drains- linear, corner, and square. Linear drains are able to extend wall to wall and come in many different looks, from tile in to designer pattern grates. Corner drains are designed to slope the shower water into the one corner. Square drains come in many sizes and designs but the most recommended is the tile-in drain. Round drains are budget friendly but tough to cut large tile around. When picking out your drain, it is important to keep in mind both function and design.
